SiC Flat Sheet Membranes
Our Silicon Carbide (SiC) membranes can be used to filter various water sources for resuse-, potable- or discharge purposes

Unique Properties

SiC is highly hydrophilic, which makes the membranes capable of processing large amounts of water at a very low pressure/vacuum. The membranes are oil repellant and as such ideal for applications containing oil.

Typical applications for SiC flat sheet membranes include:

  • Industrial wastewater for reuse or discharge
  • Surface- and ground water for potable use
  • Commercial Aquatic application
  • Flue gas applications

Operation

A low vacuum, typically around 0,1 – 0,2 bar is applied to the membrane to pull the water through. Solids and other contaminants are blocked by the membrane pores and are retained on the surface. Backwash is performed periodically to dislodge and remove solids that have accumulated on the surface.

In some applications, air scouring is applied is applied to further clean the membranes continuously. Various types of spray washes can be employed to quickly and effectively remove solids from the membrane surface.

Installation

The SiC membranes are configured into a module that can be configured to meet the needs of any project. SiC modules can be easily stacked to fit any basin size, creating unprecedented flexibility within the industry.

The module consists of three basic elements:

  • Membrane module
  • Top permeate module
  • Bottom diffusor case module
